VIDEO
At age 50, as a form of self-retrieval, after paying off her student loan debt, Mimi Allin began producing a new body of video artwork, producing 4,000 videos in just 3 years, working up to 17 hours a day and walking up to 10 miles to locate set locations. Videos locations include Seattle, Paris, Mongolia, Estonia, Russia, NYC and Miami. The videos exist at the intersection of performance art, experimental film, early-era silent cinema & dance. A strong feminist discourse runs through them. This work continues to draw Mimi out onto the landscape and into relationship with objects, suggesting a curious interior dialog as she draws and redraws the boundaries between the known and unknown.
